Under construction and nearing completion, is a 535 square meter house in the Waters Edge Estate, Big Bay. Strict architectural guidelines determine the architectural concept and control corridor views of the sea.
The site is located at the end of the middle row at the entrance to the estate and is unique as it has a road on three sides. Consequently, as opposed to other sites within the development, corridor views and exposure to northern orientation are considerably improved, but privacy needed careful consideration.
As with any corner site articulation of the corners is a very important consideration in the design. The corner opposite the entrance has solid forms, which step back to acknowledge the corner, and are punctured with small windows for privacy. This is in stark contrast to the opposite corner with is extensively glazed for views and framed by a slender structure of simple geometry.
